Good Morning~! Italy X Reader Part 8

    You started to hesitate in asking your question, but came out with it anyways. 
" You said your parents weren't gonna be home for a while. What did you mean? " 
" I meant they are somewhere in the world, researching and all the such. " 
" Your parents are researchers? " 
" Yeah, it's the only way I get money to live by myself. " 
" Don't you need to be, like, an adult to live alone? " 
    Courtney stopped in her tracks and looked at you in an " OMFG " way. 
" Seriously, do you even realize what you're saying? I have rich parents, of course they won't let me alone. I have maids and a guardian set it place at my house for me when they're gone. Haven't you seen the movies? " she answered, slightly angry.
    You were surprised by the sudden outburst. Courtney didn't seem like the person to lose their cool like that. Maybe you hit a sensitive spot with all of your questioning. 
    Courtney seemed to notice as well, and looked down with her head down in shame. 
" My parents rarely come home so it gets kinda lonely, even with everyone else at the house. Sorry for yelling at you..." 
    She lifted up her face, and you saw she was on the verge of tears. You, feeling guilty for making her on the verge of crying, went up to her and gave her a hug. Courtney squeezed you tightly, and let a few tears fall on your shoulder ( and thus the ship began XD jk ). After a few minutes had passed, she finally let go. Her eyes were bloodshot red from tears.
" Sorry, maybe I'm just bothering you now. Maybe I should go home..." 
" Can't have you going home with such a sad look, can I? " you answered snarkly, as you lightly punched her in the arm, " Probably would get the popo on my case~! "
    Courtney giggled, and punched lightly back.
" Guess not and yeah right." she said with sarcasm.
" Say, are we close to your house? " she asked. 
" Yeah, just a few more blocks. " 
" Then what are we waiting for? Hope there's food, cause I'm starting to get hungry..."
" America, is that you? " you teased. 
" Shut up~! "
    You both laughed as you resumed walking. You guys eventually made it to your house, and you unlocked the door. 
" Hey, I'm home! " you yelled at no one in particular.
" Hey, sweetie! How was your first day of school? " you heard your mom call from the kitchen.
" It was great. Come here and meet my new friend! "
    Your mom then appeared through the kitchen doorway and was holding a bowl of salad. 
" Hi there~! It's nice to see my little introvert making friends so quickly~! "
" MOM!! "
" Well, it's true. What's your name, sweetie? "
" Courtney, ma'am. "
" Oh, please call me Suzy. "
" Ok...Suzy. "
" Mom, you are so embarrassing..."
" What? Just getting friendly...is she staying over for dinner? "
" If you don't mind having me..." Courtney said. 
" Oh, I don't mind! I'll be in kitchen if you guys need anything~! Peace out! " 
    Your mom shot a gangster peace sign, and tried to moonwalk back into the kitchen. You facepalmed and Courtney just started to laugh. 
" Let's go to my room before it gets even worse. " you said, grabbing Courtney by the wrist and pulling her up the stairs and into your room. 
    Your room was small, but it was comfy with beanbags, a table with your laptop, posters of ( genre of music *cough* kpop *cough* ), and was painted your favorite color, (f/c). You belly-flopped onto your bed, and gestured for Courtney to do the same thing. She timidly sat at the corner, still looking around your room. 
" It's smaller than mine, but it's a lot more comfortable. " she mentioned. 
" Of course, cause I work my magic called " being in the room ". " 
" What? " Courtney asked. 
" To tell you the truth, I don't usually have people over so it gets a little lonely in my room, but when someone is over it seems to fill the emptiness in it, ya know? " I answered. 
    Courtney's shoulders relaxed, apparently they were tense the entire time but you didn't notice. 
" I guess you're right...wanna come over to my house sometime? " she asked.
" Sure~! " you said. 
" Girls~! Dinner's ready!!! " you heard your mom yell from downstairs.
     You both looked at each other, and both of your stomachs growled at the same time. You both laughed, suddenly realizing how hungry you guys were. 
" I never knew you had an appetite like mine. " you said. 
" Well, there some things that are surprising once you get to know someone. " 
    You got up from your comfortable position and went to the door. Before you could open it, you felt something grab your shoulder. You turned around and saw Courtney with a soft expression on her face. 
" Thanks for talking to me. I never told anyone about what was in my heart and I finally get to spill it to you. " 
    You gave her a soft smile and replied, " That's what friends are for right? To tell each other things that we wouldn't trust others with. "
" Right. Let's go eat, hope your mom can cook. " 
" Guess you'll soon find out, huh? "
    You both went down the stairs and into the kitchen. You looked around the kitchen, and saw your dad and the food. What was on the table were barbecue ribs, pasta, and a huge bowl of salad, probably the one your mom was carrying when you met her earlier. You were about to say hello and dig in with Courtney until both of your eyes fell onto a couple of familiar figures sitting with your family, slurping and eating away.
